Burma Medical Association

On June 8, 1991, the Burma Medical Association (BMA) was founded as an independent, non-profit organization by a group of health professionals from Burma under the auspices of the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB).

Our Programs

Medical Care Program

The program focuses on providing integrated services to vulnerable populations, including migrant workers, with a strong emphasis on key health issues such as malaria, TB, nutrition, and mental health awareness in conflict-affected communities.

Maternal And Child Health Care Program

This program initiatives include ANC, safe deliveries, family planning resources, emergency referral support, and health awareness sessions to improve maternal and child health outcomes in rural Burma.

Health Information System Program

The program have successfully delivered primary healthcare services, conducted quality improvement assessments, and implemented capacity building projects, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to address prevalent health issues and respond effectively to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Capacity Building Program

BMA’s Capacity Building Program focuses on enhancing health infrastructure and services in underserved ethnic states in Eastern Burma through core actions, capacity building, and coalition building.

Community Health Promotion Program

Monitoring & Evaluation

The activities undertaken in 2023 significantly improved healthcare quality and accessibility in ethnic and border areas by focusing on targeted assessments, capacity building, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic collaborations to ensure continuous enhancements in healthcare delivery.
