Our Background
The Burma Medical Association, under the guidance of the first national health conference, was formed on 8th June 1991 at Marneplaw liberated area in Karen State of Burma, with medical doctors, medics, nurses, midwives and community health workers who work on the borders, in order to elevate a necessary level of health care on the borders and initiate for the promulgation of a public health policy and multi-sectoral collaboration and cooperation

Our Mission
The Burma Medical Association (BMA) is a community-based health organization working together with Ethnic Health Organizations and other health organizations which shared BMA’s vision in order to fulfill, protect and promote the right to health of the people, enhance capacity building of health workers and support their accreditation.

To achieve quality health standards of Universal Health Coverage through Primary Health Care approach.
Our Objectives
- To play a significant role in people-centered health policy development in collaboration with ethnic health organizations and other community-based organizations
- To promote understanding of the right to health based on an attitude of “Health is Human Rights” among health workers and the community, and organize medical professionals to respect for medical ethics;
- To promote fraternal relations among medical professionals, exchange experiences and extend medical knowledge and technical know-how among them;
- To collaborate with Ethnic Health Organizations and international organizations to strengthen federal health system.
